There are plenty of companies out
there with a wide range of prices that sell domain names. Technically it is
buying the name, but a temporary license to use the line for a given URL or
time period (often a year at a time). With an annual domain registration, you
can assign the address to your site.
You can even buy multiple domain
names and what is called a "redirection". Using this technique, you
can have visitors arrive in the same place, regardless of which of the
addresses you type in your browser.
The company that provides domain
name registration is called a "domain registration". The very basic
package includes a panel that can register and control what happens with your
address. This includes the essential tools and redirects, etc..
What happens is that the web site
hosting is a literal direction that your files are stored on their servers, and
domain names are sent to that address (usually quite complex). This gives you
an easy way to remember for your site visitors to get to your site without having
to see "the man behind the curtain" so to speak.
Does not seem fair that if you come
with a unique web address, which should have to pay someone to use it. Are you?
Right. I do not really seem fair! However, there is a benefit to the fact that
people are forced to pay for the registration of domain names'. This system
prevents random people using up all URLs, then loss of these addresses in the
content useless (or worse, none at all).
